York Galleria mall road closes as casino construction ramps up
Customers who frequent the York Galleria or other nearby stores, such as Target, will see some traffic changes for the new mini-casino coming to the mall.
One of the Whiteford Road entrances — the one closest to the former Sears store —and part of the road around the mall will be closed to traffic from March 16 to April 17, according to Springettsbury Township.
Shoppers heading to Target, Kohl’s and Michaels will need to use the Pleasant Valley Road entrance or the section of the mall road that will remain open.
Plans have called for the Whiteford Road entrance to the mall to become a right-in, right-out. The York Galleria is sharing information on its Facebook page and website, said Stacey Keating, a spokeswoman for CBL Properties, which owns the York Galleria.
The new Hollywood Casino York has been under construction for several months at the site of the former Sears store. It is expected to open by the end of this year, company spokesman Jeff Morris said.
It will open with 500 slot machines and 20 table games, but that number could grow up to 750 slot machines and 40 table games as allowed by law.
It will feature a sports and race book, casual restaurant and bar, an entertainment lounge and a coffee venue, a news release states.
The 80,000-square-foot casino is expected to draw customers from south central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland, the company has stated.
