Giants select Matt Peart with No. 99 pick in NFL Draft 2020

Two is always better than one. At least in case of Giants’ offensive tackle position, although they had selected Andrew Thomas in the first round, on Friday night, the doubled-up by adding Matt Peart from UConn to their team near the ending of the third round of the NFL Draft, 2020.

The 99th pick made by the Giants was basically a compensatory selection that was based on enabling safety against the Landon Collins with free agency. Peart never played during his high-school yet was a four-year starter during his college time. After his family emigrated from Kingston in Jamaica, Peart grew up in the Bronx.

This was a down-the-road move made by the Giants as Peart with his 6-foot-7 is not considered to be completely ready to play in the NFL without any delay. Perhaps, Giants have made their decision for the year 2021, when Peart will be able to move in the right tackling direction as a building block, along with Thomas in the left, if in case the veteran Nate Solder isn’t back with the team by next year.

The head coach of the Giants, Joe Judge, said that they had got a lot of upsides, though Peart can’t be considered as a development; he is indeed developing.
